How the Numbers Are Calculated
The calculator simulates a monthly SIP with each contribution invested at the start of the month (an "annuity due"), compounding monthly at your expected annual return.
With no step-up, this simulation reduces to the standard closed-form SIP future value formula:
Future Value (no step-up)
FV = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) / i] × (1 + i)
- P = monthly investment, i = expected annual return ÷ 12 (monthly rate), n = number of months invested.
- When step-up is enabled, the monthly contribution increases by the step-up percentage at the start of each subsequent year, so the future value is computed month by month instead of the closed-form formula.
- Estimated Returns = Total Value − Invested Amount; all figures are rounded only at the point they are displayed.
